Malawian local foods steal the Africa Day

As was the case with other African countries, this year, June 2017, Malawi took part in the commemoration of Africa Day when Malawians and different organizations showed their love of Africa through clothing, food and tradition.

Among other things, Malawians commemorated the day by dining on Malawian and traditional meals and national wear that spiced Malawian tradition.

Mjamba Clubhouse is an eatery in Chitawira Township in Blantyre which cooks and sells Malawian and traditional prepared food and is owned by Susan Banda, a young entrepreneur.

In a questionnaire, Susan testified that many Malawians and foreigners frequent her place possibly because of Malawian food as many cafeterias are preparing dishes according to modern or foreign recipes.

“People are fed up with foreign meals and junky foods. This prompted me to open up a place that would suit eating needs of many Malawians and people from all walks of life that appreciate traditional Malawian foods”, said Susan.
