Central Region Football Association (CRFA) has become the second football affiliate body to publicly endorse Fleetwood Haiya for another term as Football Association of Malawi (FAM) President ahead of next year’s elections.
The endorsement was announced during the official launch of the Gojet Investments-sponsored CRFA Division One League at Kasungu Stadium.
Speaking at the event, CRFA Chairperson Goodall Chinjoka said the association has resolved to support Haiya’s bid for re-election, citing the positive strides made under his leadership.
Chinjoka said CRFA is impressed with the progress and transformation taking place in Malawian football since Haiya assumed office.
The endorsement makes CRFA the second football association to declare its support for Haiya, following the earlier backing from the Beach Soccer Association of Malawi.
The launch ceremony attracted several football stakeholders, including Super League of Malawi (SULOM) President Gilbert Mittawa, who was among the dignitaries in attendance.
On the pitch, the occasion was marked by an entertaining Gojet Investments CRFA Division One League opener between TN Stars FC and Manzo Chisomo FC. The two sides shared the spoils after playing out a 1-1 draw.
