After announcing its plan to civic-educate citizens on the forthcoming tripartite elections, the Malawi electoral commission (MEC) has released its elections calendar. Last week, MEC expressed its great interest in civic educating the citizens on how they are going to vote in the 2014 unique tripartite elections. In the calendar, MEC has earmarked consultation meetings with political party leaders, realignment of wards and refinement of constituencies by the end of 2014, prior to identification, recruitment and registration of staff.
Sangwani mwafulirwa, who is the spokesperson, disclosed this via email to all media houses. He also disclosed more about the 2014 elections in Balaka, where he attended a debate, which was organized by the Balaka Debate Club a few days ago.
During the 2014 election Malawians will have a chance of voting for long awaited councillors, as well as Members of Parliament and the president of their choice.
This is the first time since the coming in of multiparty democracy in 1994, that the Malawi Electoral Commission is to manage tripartite elections.
