Malawi human rights activists gives SA 48hrs ultimatum on xenophobia

Human rights activists and other concerned citizens have today 21 April 2015

presented a petition to South African ambassador to Malawi on xenophobic attacks in south Africa.

Over one thousand people in Lilongwe took part in the peaceful demonstrations.

Speaking when she received the petition the ambassador said she is not happy with what south African citizens are demonstrations-xeno2-326x159 Xeno-Demo-700x522 xeno-xeno-demonstr-326x159doing attacking and killing foreigners

The petition demands president of South Africa Jacob Zuma to apologize within 48 hours.

The activists through the petition have said failing to have response within 48 hours citizens will boycott all South African owned shops.

In a similar development Consumer Association of Malawi (CAMA) is also organizing a demonstration this Friday called "black Friday" in reaction to foreign nationals attacks in South Africa.

CAMA executive director John Kapito has said the demonstration is only to show concerns on what is happening in South Africa.

"On this day we are urging people not to go in any South Africa owned shop be it PEP, Shoprite or Game and instead purchase goods from other shops,"said Kapito.

He added that apart from these shop are not the only ones that have goods that people can buy and use.
