Copyright Society of Malawi (COSOMA) has vowed not to retreat in the fight against piracy in the country. COSOMA Public relation officer Ettah Kamanga said this following a min operation the institution carried out in Lilongwe recently. The publicist further said that the seized equipments shall not be returned to the owners until they pay and have a COSOMA license in relation to their business.
Musicians Union of Malawi president Gloria Manong’a has since commended COSOMA for the step taken, noting that the copy right Act of 2016, offences of piracy attract a maximum penalty of five million kwacha and 2 years Imprisonment with hard labor.
