The Catholic Secretariat for the Episcopal conference of Malawi says there is great need to embrace the Church’s Child Protection Policy.
Secretary General for the Episcopal Conference of Malawi, ECM, Reverend Fr. Henry Saindi, said this recently at the Catholic Secretariat, Lilongwe, when he opened a two day induction training for child protection coordinators drawn from all the eight dioceses in Malawi.
Fr. Saindi expressed concern that child abuse does exist everywhere including in the Church.
“There is need to advance the child protection drive because there is an increase of reported child abuse cases in Malawi”, he said to the participants at the opening of the meeting.
According to Fr Saindi, the Catholic Church has seen it important to guide Church institutions to become sensitive to child protection issues in the fulfillment of its evangelization mission of love and justice.
