People around Namitengo primary school in Ntcheu district gathered at the school ground to commemorate this year’s candlelight memorial ceremony on 27th May 2013.
Some of the reasons for the commemoration are to remember those who lost their lives due to HIV/AIDS, giving hope to those living with the HIV virus and also to continue in the fight against stigma and discrimination towards people living with HIV.
Speaking in an interview with our reporter Ntcheu District Commissioner Paul Kalilombe said that on this day the emphasis was on calling out for unity in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
In attendance were some traditional leaders and Mrs. Rosemary Malinki , on behalf of Inkosi Gomani encouraged all Malawians not to discriminate people living with HIV AIDS .
