FOOTBALL BONANZA TO MOBILISE COMMUNITY ABOUT TRIPATITE ELECTIONS

As A way to reach out and educate the Nation on the coming 2014 tripartite elections, National Initiative for Civic Education, NICE, in Machinga  District, organized a football bonanza in order to mobilize people from Nayuchi area on the importance of registration as the exercise is about to start.

Victor Mponda ,  District Elections Officer  for Machinga, who is also Chairperson  for District Advisory Forum (DOF), said there are good procedures which are put in place to make sure that only Malawian Citizens are those  to register as the District boarders with Mozambique.

‘Since Nayuchi borders with Mozambique, wNVE00042e want to make sure that only Malawians are the ones to register through our Supervisors and other protocols that are put in place’, said Mponda.

Speaking in an interview with Luntha Television, District Civic Education Officer for NICE, George Mhango, revealed that they chose football Bonanza as one way of mobilizing the community with the message of registration as many people in the rural areas like soccer, that’s giving the big chance of disseminating the message hence the turn up of the community is always high.

Villages around Traditional Authority Kawinga watched the soccer as Nayuchi Football Club defeated Hot Bullets with 3 goals to 1.

Voter registration period is expecting to start in Machinga from 11th September up to 24th September.
