FAWEMA Awards Students At Liwonde Secondary School

Forum of African Women Empowerment in Malawi [FAWEMA] has presented different awards to the students as well as teachers at Liwonde Secondary School in Machinga District.

The awards were presented to the best students who passed with flying colours in science subjects in 2012 MSCE and JCE levels, and also to teachers who emerged as best performers.

FawemaSome of the gifts that have been presented included bicycles, notebooks and school bags.

One of the girls who received an award, Bridget Petro, said that she is happy with the gifts, as this will motivate her to work harder in preparation for MSCE.

Speaking on behalf of FAWEMA, Mrs. Martha Kakhobwe said that her organization’s major concern is girl-child’s access to good education so that they may become responsible citizens.

“Much as we put effort on girls, we also encourage boys to work hard. That is why they too have received awards,” said Kakhobwe

In his remarks, the Eastern Education Manager MC Gregory Alufandika who was the guest of owner said FAWEMA is playing a big role in girl child education.

He added that that government will make sure that secondary schools have enough classroom blocks, which will enable them to enrolment more students.
