Balaka District Education Plan

The Education office in the District of Balaka, in conjunction with the office of the District commissioner, had a District Education Planning (DEP) meeting on 5 November 2013.

According to Balaka District Education Manager, Mr Valentino Zimpita, the aim of the meeting was to inform Non-Governmental Organizations present at the meeting about the plans that the education office has concerning the development of education in the district from this year up to 2017.

South Eastern Education Division Manager, McGregory Alufandika who was present at the meeting said it’s his wish to see a rise of the transitional rate of pupils from primary to secondary school.

In his remarks, Alufandika said it’s sad to see that a lot of pupils who pass Standard 8 exams fail to proceed to secondary schools due to limited space in the schools.

‘Through this plan, we want to make sure that with assistance from the communities we should join hands and start the construction of schools.”

The areas that are far away from secondary schools are Chiyendausiku, Khonde and Utale,’ said Alufandika

The meeting was held under the theme: “A tool for quality education through stakeholder’s involvement.”
