Archbishop Tarcizius Ziyaye of the Archdiocese of Lilongwe on 15th July celebrated silver jubilee of his episcopate at a function held at Maula Cathedral in Lilongwe, where he also ordained some deacons to priesthood and other priests celebrated their priestly silver jubilees and golden jubilees respectively.
Archbishop Ziyaye led in the thanksgiving holy mass where he said it is God’s wish that he has served for twenty five years as bishop and said he has encountered so many things during this time.
“I want to thank God for allowing me to serve His Church for twenty five years as bishop. Honestly during this time I have encountered numerous challenges as well as good things. As you know I was appointed bishop in 1992 when the political climate in Malawi wasn’t good for soon after my consecration the bishops released the ‘Living Our Faith’ pastoral letter on 8th March in the year.
My parents then denied that I be consecrated bishop for fear that I could be killed but eventually, they accepted”, said the Archbishop.
